Boston, MA: Marty Casey and Lovehammers open for INXS,
The Wang Center for the Performing Arts, Feb. 10, 2006

Pre-Show:

Got there at about 7-7:15 and stood in line outside to get in. Street-teamers were there passing out flyers and chatting to anyone who'd listen about Marty and the boys (you rock, girls, sorry I couldn't help). We - myself and Heather, the girl I took - got in about 7:30 or so and our seats were relatively kick good...we were kind of t owards the back of the room (on the first level), but we go aisle seats so we got to lean out and get better views if it was needed.

Ah, also, while inside the main lobby, but not yet to our seats, Jeremy passed by. Gotta admit I'd never seen him before so I didn't know it was Jeremy at first - but I knew immediately he was definitely WITH the Lovehammers. --- He's a bit of a cutie himself, by the way.

Security was super strict with the cameras, even during the sound check, so we got no pics in the theater...but I did see some camera flashes coming from the stage (Dan?). Sound check was kinda cool to watch as the roadies (who were too far to properly ID) checked things and wandered around.

Show:

Soon though it was time for the real deal...THE LOVEHAMMERS!!! Everything went real dark real fast and (thankfully) the ushers finally got out of my line of view. The stage went dark and then there was a light on Bobby, who immediately began to just wail on the drums with all his might - he really gets into it! He went from a crazed tribal-type beat right into Ultrasound's rhythm as Dino and Billy took the stage. Heather and I stood up (where we remained until the very end of LH's set); suddenly Heather started yelling "Blonde hair blonde hair! I see him I see him!!!" I looked over at the far right end of the stage and, sure enough, Marty stood there patiently for another moment before briskly (quickly but calmly) walking on--stage..."We control the audio, we control the radio...". After the intro he did classic Conductor which is even more surreal in person - how does he do that?!?

Right from the first few lines of Ultrasound he did MY SONG – Straight As An Arrow. It was incredible...he even sang the "my girl, you're so dirty" to some lucky lady in the very front. After that came Hold On, Rain on the Brain, Riddle, Call of Distress, Eyes Can't See, and Wait for No One (note, order's a bit of a blur, may not be correct)...Somewhere in the mix of these songs Marty lost the sunglasses, the black leather (?) jacket, the red over-shirt, but too my slight disappointment, not the black tank top (though he was incredibly hot anyhow). He also gave props to "Billy on the guitar, Bobby, whose working the drums over there, and his little br other Dino, whose only playing with, like, one finger tonight after saving a dog's life"...there were murmurs of query at this so Marty told everyone the heroic tale of Dino saving Frankie's life... "That's right folks, not only is he a bad-ass bass player, he's also a life-saver of dogs. So now he's only playing with one finger", Marty reiterated at which Dino held up his busted up hand in a way that made it look like (to me) he was flippin' the audience off – I think he was doing it as joke cause from even where I was sitting I could see him smiling his cute, snarky smile. – Marty also gave props to INXS, made mention of a World Tour (though in what capacity I'm not sure) and that they'd return in June (I'm not sure if he meant return to Boston or return to US...either way I'm already anxious for tix, lol).

During The Tunnel Marty leapt from the stage and into the crowd. He started off climbing up over the front row seats and, I believe, almost toppling once or twice (careful, Marty). He also decided to run through the crowd and, sadly, because people finally got their butts out of their chairs and we were so far from the aisle he choose, I lost sight of Marty. But as he climbed his way back on-stage I saw him once again. – He should be given major kudos for this; it's hard to go from stage to audience and back again in the Wang. Call of Distress, I believe, was the main song in which our beloved Marty hit the floor and moaned for awhile ("I'm always alooooone...").

Trees was the second to last song and Marty told everyo ne "we're gonna do a little sing-a-long now, how about a song we all know? This is the first single off our new CD, it's called Trees. Come on everybody, get up, stand on up, and let's sing." After Trees was "another song ya'll might know the words to..." Ring of Fire.

Intermission & INXS:

Then intermission came and I met up with my aunts – one of whom said (somewhat drunkenly), "Oh my God...Marty's so f-ing hot, why couldn't he have taken that shirt off? Do ya think he'd sign my ass?" – at which point she started to laugh hysterically ...I told her that he might if she asked real nice, lol. I also finally met up with YNOT and her daughter, both of whom are great and fabulous people and I'd really love to go to another concert with them. I also took this time to buy an LH shirt, LH pink panties, and an LH beanie hat (which is seriously awesome).

I admit I went back after intermission for a short period of time. I got some one-on-one street-teaming done with the people around us, which I was proud of. Stayed for the first few songs of INXS - Suicide Blonde, New Sensation, and Devil's Party – then I got bored and decided to Marty hunt. While I did get to spend alotta time with YNOT and her girl there was never any Marty to be found.

Post-Show Meet & Greet:

Finally, at about the time Marty said they'd do their official M&G we were all told to line up and go down to the lower lobby/basement - YNOT and I were hoping for an unofficial one, with singing in the stairwell, but it was not meant to be...maybe next time. Anyway, we were made to stand there for awhile with some kinda order, but mostly alotta bitching by security ("No personal photos, CD signing only, blah blah blah"). Soon though the boys came out a side door and, if possible, I think they were as excited to see us as we were them. (Marty: "Heeeey!!!" Bobby & Dino: "Ahhhh", Billy: "What's up?!?")

So, the line starts moving after they get settled down and it moves pretty fast...a little too fast if you asked me. YNOT went in front of me and Marty got real psyched about the garter and told her to wait until the end so that they could do the ceremony. After YNOT's daughter I was up and went up right up to Marty who seemed to immediately zero in on my garter and smile. "Yup, another Sister in the house," I said. He smiled and said something like "nice to meet you" or whatever and asked what my screen name was, and when I gave it he nodded, but I'm not sure if he recognized it or was trying to remember it for later (?). He also took my hand and said he really liked one of my rings and asked where I got it - he also said something about someone he knew (him???) who likes to wear those type of rings but security was yelling at people so I didn't catch the name of who he was talking about it and I didn't get to tell him where I got it (which is the Morocco section of Disney World, lol). I got to look right into his eyes which are OMG blue and beautiful...left feeling a little weak in the knees. -- Which was better than the girl I brought who seemed to completely forget her name.

Next up was Dino, who I asked how his fingers were doin' and he just sorta laughed a little and said, "fine". I also told Dino "N--- says hi, by the way" and Dino and Bobby got real excited that I knew N--- (their friend from back home) and I bet we would've got to talk more if security wasn't so far up our rear-ends (I didn't even have the chance to hug Dino or Bobby cause of our chat, but that's alright cause I'd fulfilled my duty of passing on the "hello"). I would like it to be noted that both guys are so adorable and sweet and really down-to-earth.

Then there was Billy who's a total riot. YNOT's daughter was in front of me and asked for a hug, which Billy gave her. She, presumably to be polite, didn't really lean into him much during the hug and so Billy goes, "Come on, girl, this ain't no ass-out hug...give me a real one," and then bear hugged the girl. I was already laughing a little from the comment and getting "Lovehammered" so when I got to him I said, "Well, if you're giving out free hugs..." and got a great big laugh and bear hug from Billy. – Admission: I was never really a "Billy" girl, he just never seemed my type in the pictures but I totally adore him now. He's gorgeous in person with great big blue eyes that maintain this mischievous glint no matter what's going on.

Now for the worst part of the entire thing...the waiting for 1-2 hrs while the entire rest of the people got their turn. Normally I'd have had no problem with this – I want as many people to experience the moments' of love I got – but the security was unbelievably obnoxious...YNOT and I had to lie to them and say we were waiting for someone just to stay around. -- On a more humorous note, I think some girl got Marty to sign her boobs, lol!

Finally, YNOT and I went up again...We came up together and Marty's eyes widened excitedly, "Oh, wow! You guys actually stayed!" We both smiled and I said something to the effect, "Yup, just for you," which made him laugh a little... he gave me a great big smile and, lest he think I wasn't dying for one, I said, "Don't I get a hug?" Marty smiled even more (if possible) and leaned all the way across the table and gave me a great big, warm hug. My gawd...the warmth that radiates off that man is unreal. I'd have given him a kiss on the cheek, but the lining of our faces wasn't quite right and I thought a kiss on the neck would've been a bit too forward (didn't wanna freak the boy out).

All the guys thanked us once more and said goodbye and then we left. Ironically, we finally found the bus out back afterwards, despite searching for it during much of INXS...musta had it in hiding in a garage or something until the boys were about to leave. We all briefly considered checking out the bus once more but it was getting' late (I needed to grab the last train back home or be stranded in town) and we figured we'd all had two moments with the boys and they were probably exhausted and we didn't wanna cut into their sleep/travel/de-stress time.

...Think that's it...it's how I remember it going down, though don't quote me directly on the details - certain parts remain a Lovehammered Blur, lol. All that being said, one fact remains the same...

I LOVE THESE BOYS!!!!!!!
