Marty Casey Photo Shoot
Downtown Chicago: June 28, 2006
This photo shoot took place in, on and around the Swissôtel, downtown Chicago. Close to Navy Pier, this luxury hotel, a tall silver and glass triangular-shaped tower, sits at the point where the Chicago River meets Lake Michigan and affords a bird's eye view of the Chicago skyline. Historically Chicago is considered the birthplace of the skyscraper and currently has over 1,500 high rise buildings. In the first row of photos from on top of the hotel, 54-stories up, you can see many of Chicago's famous skyscrapers: the John Hancock Building, the Aon Center, the Prudential Building, and Lake Point Tower. In some of these shots you can see Navy Pier, Lake Shore Drive and both Lake Michigan and the Chicago River. On the second row photos the first two were taken from inside the hotel, high up. The others on the second row taken down near the street level, you can see behind Marty the ramp leading up to one of the "bascule" bridges over the Chicago River. Chicago is home to more than 35 operable movable bridges—-more than any city in the world. You can also see the white-facaded Wrigley building in the background and off to the left side a crane where the new Trump International Hotel & Tower is under construction. If any Chicagoans want to write in to the site and fill us in on more of the buildings and locations seen here, please drop us an email. We will be adding more here over the next few weeks.
