Change is Everything

I wanted to reach out to everyone and let you know of some equally amazing and difficult changes going on in my life at the present moment. With sincere thought and sleepless nights, I have made the decision to change my current musical direction. I am still deeply committed to the creation and performance of music but have decided to take on a new opportunity. This scenario appeared very quickly and I only had a few days to make the decision. I chose what I felt was right for my life.

I have been working in Los Angeles and Toronto as a songwriter for the new L.A. GUNS album, and as we were working on the album, the former singer of the band made some extremely bad decisions and left the band as a result. The band was in the studio in Canada with their producer, Steve Thompson, and all set to record the songs we had written together. On top of the month of recording that needed to be completed, their world tour was confirmed to begin at the end of June.

They offered me the opportunity to step in and be the new voice of L.A.GUNS. I thought about the opportunity and the possibilities it opened up for me. I loved the songs I had written with the band and felt it was time for me to embrace this new direction. I was excited at the opportunity to record this album and then join the "Summer Blackout Tour" which will take me all over the world over the next year. I chose to dive into the creativity and momentum. It was a tough decision because the Lovehammers have always been very good friends and musical brothers. It was incredibly hard to talk to them and let them know of my new musical direction. My intent was not to hurt anyone. My intent is to continue passionately in creating and performing music. I have felt stuck for some time, and when this scenario presented itself, it felt like the clouds opening up and showing me a bright light of possibility. I am excited to record this album that I have so passionately been writing and then set-off on tour for the next year. It feels like the right place for me.

I hope you embrace my change in direction and I hope you understand. I am working incredibly hard recording the album and want to affect people with intense live performances. A place has opened up for me, and I am committed to making this a success. I also hope there will be future Lovehammers shows because Bob, Dino & Billy are a big part of my life.

I hope to see you all soon and all the best to you,

Marty Casey

Dear Marty,
I understand why this was a hard decision for you, but I also understand why you felt stuck. I will continue to support your musical creativity in whatever form it takes. It's not unheard of for musicians to work with more than one band, and you have the drive and enery to cover all your projects. I wish you the best with LA Guns, and I'm looking forward to hearing what you're coming up with together. I hope to hear more Lovehammers music in the future, too. You have talent to spare, so I have faith that you can do anything you set your mind to. Keep on passionately creating--you always blow my mind! :-)
Hugs,
Nancy

Shit, I just got my LA Guns tattoo burned off because I thought they were done. Now I have this giant blotch on my face.

You owe me $75.

Hey Marty,
Life is full of transitions and opportunities.

I'm personally very happy you've moved on. Although I love Lovehamers, I found it to be creatively stagnant.

I'll be pulling for you in LA Guns and I can't wait for some new material!

Rock,

LA Ghost

Hi Marty!
I sent you a PM but will post a comment here as well. You were right to make this decision. You are always zooming around at several times the speed of light and it was only a matter of time before you had to go beyond where you were. We are all developing at different rates, though we are traveling side by side in a manner of speaking. You saw that glimmering path and had to decide to take it and see what was up ahead. ROCK ON!

Dear Marty..I have to say that when I heard the news I was saddened because I never even got to my first LH show .BUT ...you are ever growing and changing and if this is the path you must take , then follow it . You really are truly gifted and those gifts need to get out there world wide so they are appreciated by ALL .

It is sad to say it , because I know how much LH means to you , but you were standing still and not happy . That is not good because it affects all involved . You lead , I will follow . Just be careful with your well being . Things will be different now .I hope LA GUNS will be fan accessable , because you have a lot of us who love and respect you .
Forever Marty's FanGal ...Valerie

Hey Marty
I saw you in Toronto when you were opening for INXS
and frankly I was not impress by the two guys playing behind you.
They were having a little chat while you were giving your heart and soul to the audience.
I am so glad you have joined a band with a lot more talent and personality than the LH. (never liked the name anyway)
Good decision, I look forward to buying your new cd.

PS: Has INXS retired?

Marty, I commend you on taking your personal leap of faith. It had to be very difficult to make such a life changing decision in such a short time. I have seen you (on tv) with the House Band, and you rocked. I have seen you with the Love Hammers and you rocked. I have seen you doing accoustic solo and you rocked. And I am sure you will rock with the LA Guns. Rock on!

Hi Marty,

I was totally shell shocked, when I heard the news. So glad that you let all of your fans know what was going on with you. Don't get me wrong, I am so thrilled that this wonderful opportunity opened up for you as the lead singer for the LA Guns! I can't wait to hear the new music. Have fun and enjoy, rocking around the world with your band mates. LH will always be part of my heart and Clinic is my favorite song! Hey, Other Blonde Guy, hope to see you here in Indianapolis soon with this hot group! Rock On LA Guns!

I've never listened to L.A. Guns but I'm sure with you being the voice and a part of their new creations, that I will be blown away and love it. Be safe, and bask in your "bright light of possibility". I can't wait to hear your new music and to see more of your INTENSE live performances.
See you in TEXAS,

Congratulations, Marty!! I watched you on RS:INXS and thought you were great--I bought all the LH's cd's and dvd's. I've also been a big LA Guns fan since the late 80s and have seen them many times. Since they split up, I like the Phil Lewis version better and was disappointed that the Tracii Guns version is playing Dallas UNTIL I saw that you joined the band!! Now, I'm really excited and will definitely be there. I think you're just what they needed and I'm so happy for you! Spread your wings and fly!

I'm Bob, from Indonesia.. (People knows Bali more than the country itself. hehe ^_^)

I was looking your lovehammer's CD, for a very long period, in my land. But it still inexist.

Whatever your direction (new band, solo career), just make sure that i can get your CD here.. (seems like lovehammers cant push your voice far enough to reach us here)

sent my respect to Bob, Dino, and Billy.. i still enjoy their skills at music. Quitting the band never mean cut the everlasting friendship, r8t?

Viva marty! Change is the elixir of life..

This is a seriously great move. This collaboration will yield some exciting, meaningful music from L.A Guns and I would not be surprised if it saw the charts of many countries and yielded a hit single. Dude is gonna get so much pussy. But it's about the music and bringing it to the world. Coup de Gras, again, MXC. (In roman numerals that is, what, 1090. What is that, a tax form or something?:)

Marty, you'll beat me to Argentina but I beat you to Switzerland. Meet you in Prague. One day!

I can't even deny the fact that...I feel sick...and really sad...I have been waiting to see the Lovehammers ever since my knowing they were in existance...I absolutely loved and worshipped your music...You never came to South Dakota.

Now...you are with L.A. Guns. And on their tour?? Sioux Falls, of course! (Following a Guns n' Roses tribute band at a rock fest too...Woah...how's that for irony)

I really do want to support your musical decision...it's not my life or anything...but many are going to be let down.

As one of your youngest fans, probably, I know I was...Maybe i'm wrong...maybe this will be amazing...but for now I still have a bad feeling.

Maybe not bad...I'm just...crushed.

The lovehammers meant a lot to me. I just want you to know...

I might go to the L.A. Guns show but right now...I don't know.

Lindsay.
